The job
A box that keeps the cold in.
Berkshire Grown is a non-profit in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. They support local farms. They connect people across the Berkshires to local food, and they work to make sure people here can get the food they need.
What they had was a used outdoor cooler and freezer combo from Polar King that was worn out. It was kept cold with air conditioners, and one of the doors was nearly off its hinges. A food-rescue program depends on the food that was sitting behind that door.
Massachusetts state grant money paid for the replacement. RSNE built them a new outdoor cooler and freezer combo, tailored to their site. It is 44 ft by 14 ft by 8 ft 5 in outside, with two doors, an insulated freezer floor, and a ramp. The roof is a membrane roof — a waterproof covering — rated to sit outside through a Berkshire winter. The panels and the doors were built in our Lakeville, MA shop.
Berkshire Grown got two temperature zones in one box. It runs on a proper refrigeration system instead of air conditioners, and it’s more energy efficient than the old box.
More on what we build: walk-in coolers and freezers. Doors on this job: RSNE custom doors.
